Battle for Ohaneze Ndigbo Presidency: IPOB Calls for Unity and Fairness.

Enugu Province, Nigeria-Bịafraland

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), under the leadership of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has expressed concern over the alleged endorsement of Mr. Mike Okiro by a faceless group known as "Ogbako Egbema" for the position of President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo. IPOB describes this move as a deliberate attempt by certain influential individuals in the Imo State government to tarnish the reputation of Mike Okiro and weaken the unity of Ohaneze Ndigbo, echoing the destabilization that has plagued Imo State.

This faceless group is accused of serving the interests of Ndigbo's adversaries, whose agenda is to perpetuate division within Alaigbo. IPOB emphasizes that it is Rivers State's legitimate turn to produce the next President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, in line with the organization’s zoning structure. The group asserts that such divisive tactics undermine efforts to unify all Igbo territories, from Igbanke to Isobo, under a common purpose.

IPOB has sternly warned those behind the purported endorsement of Mike Okiro to desist from their actions, which threaten the cohesion of the Igbo race. The retired Inspector General of Police, Mr. Mike Okiro, who hails from Imo State, is urged not to allow himself to be used in this manner. IPOB reminds the public that Okiro contested against the late Prof. George Obiozor during Imo State’s turn to produce a President General and lost.

The group has vowed to resist any attempts to manipulate the zoning structure of Ohaneze Ndigbo, emphasizing that this opportunity belongs to Rivers State Igbos. IPOB warns that any effort to exclude Rivers State Igbos from their rightful chance to lead Ohaneze Ndigbo will be met with firm resistance, and those responsible will be held accountable.

IPOB calls on Igbo governors and politicians to respect the integrity of Ohaneze Ndigbo as a socio-cultural organization and not reduce it to a political extension of the South East Governors Forum. The group reiterates its commitment to ensuring that Ohaneze Ndigbo operates independently and champions the interests of Ndigbo.
