President Tinubu Unveils National Youth Conference to Engage Young Nigerians

Abuja, Nigeria.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced the initiation of a National Youth Conference, a landmark event aimed at tackling the multifaceted challenges that confront young Nigerians. The president made this declaration during his Independence Day address to the nation.

Tinubu emphasized that the conference, which will span 30 days, will serve as a platform for Nigerian youth—who make up over 60% of the population—to actively participate in nation-building. He stated, “This conference will be a platform to address the diverse challenges and opportunities confronting our young people... By ensuring that their voices are heard in shaping the policies that impact their lives, we are creating a pathway for a brighter tomorrow.”

The president detailed the scope of the conference, indicating that the delegates would discuss pressing issues such as education, employment, innovation, security, and social justice. He assured that the government would involve youth representatives in designing the framework and selecting participants for the Confab.

In addition to the upcoming conference, President Tinubu highlighted several youth-centric initiatives his administration has already rolled out, such as:

  • The 3 Million Technical Talents Programme (3MTT): Spearheaded by the Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, this program aims to create a robust technical talent backbone for the country.
  • The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND): This initiative offers affordable loans to students pursuing tertiary education.
  • Renewed Hope Labour Employment and Empowerment Programme (LEEP): Set to launch later this month, this program is designed to empower Nigerian youth with employment opportunities.

The president concluded by stating that his government is committed to carefully considering and implementing the recommendations that will emerge from the conference, ensuring the aspirations of young Nigerians are met.

With this initiative, the administration is positioning the youth at the heart of Nigeria’s development, empowering them to lead and shape the future of the nation.
