Obasanjo: Igbo Marginalization Over Biafra Secession Is Unjust

Image
Lagos, Nigeria. Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has voiced a striking observation, stating that every region in Nigeria has, at some point, considered secession. He emphasized that no ethnic group should be ostracized or punished for secessionist inclinations, including the Igbo people . Obasanjo made these remarks while hosting the League of Northern Democrats , led by former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau, at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Tuesday. In his speech, Obasanjo expressed his dismay at the ongoing marginalization of the Igbo ethnic group, particularly the notion that an Igbo person cannot become president of Nigeria due to the Biafran secession attempt. He firmly rejected this view, stating, “It bleeds my heart when people say because the Igbos had carried out secession, an Igbo man cannot be the president of Nigeria. I say what nonsense? There is no section of Nigeria that has not planned secession.” The former president...

Lights Out Up North? TCN Says Sit-at-Home Protesters Pulled the Plug.

Eket Province, Nigeria-Biafraland. The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has confirmed ongoing power outages in the North East , North West, and parts of the North Central regions, attributing the disruptions to line tripping on major transmission routes. The outage, which began on Monday, has left several states without power, while TCN’s attempts to locate and fix the fault have been hampered by challenging terrain, insecurity, and the ongoing sit-at-home protests in Eastern Region. In a statement released on Tuesday morning, Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, apologized to the government and electricity consumers in the affected areas. Mbah explained that patrol teams tasked with fault tracing had faced difficulties due to both natural obstacles and the sit-at-home order observed in the South East on October 21st and 22nd, which impacted operational logistics, including refueling patrol vehicles. The power outage was triggered by a fault on the 330kV Ugwaji–Ap...

IPOB's Resolve Hardens: Assassination of Biafra Land Coordinator Will Not Go Unpunished

Eket Province, Nigeria-Biafraland.  The Directorate of State (DOS) and the global family of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have made a heartbreaking announcement regarding the assassination of Mazi Ikechukwu Ugwuoha, the Biafra Land National Coordinator. Mazi Ugwuoha was tragically murdered by suspected Nigerian government agents near his residence in Aba, Abia State, on October 18th, 2024. According to IPOB, Mazi Ugwuoha was targeted for his role in coordinating a peaceful movement advocating for Biafra's independence. His assassination is seen as part of a wider effort to instill fear among IPOB members and sympathizers. However, IPOB vows that the fear of death will not deter its mission, declaring that those responsible for this heinous act have "murdered sleep in their eyes." IPOB's intelligence unit, known as M.Branch, has been tasked with uncovering the identities of those involved in the assassination. The group has vowed to exact revenge on those resp...

Lights Out, Again! National Grid Playing Hide and Seek with Electricity

Image
Enugu Province,Nigeria-Biafraland. The national electricity grid has collapsed once again, marking the third time within a week that power supply has been disrupted across the Nation. The latest incident occurred this morning, at approximately 8:16 a.m., plunging several regions into darkness. This frequent instability of the grid has raised serious concerns about the state of Nigeria's power infrastructure, affecting millions of homes, businesses, and critical services. Communities within Biafra , already contending with socio-political challenges, are particularly hard-hit, as power outages disrupt daily life and hinder economic activities. This string of grid collapses comes amid ongoing debates about the need for alternative energy sources and decentralized power systems, especially in the Southeast and South-South regions, where infrastructure is often neglected by federal authorities. The lack of reliable electricity further intensifies frustrations among the Biafran people,...

UK Government to Yoruba Nation: ‘Thanks for the Letter, But We're Not Involved

Image
Abuja,Nigeria. Following the submission of a Yoruba Nation petition at No. 10 Downing Street by Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho , the controversial Odudwa Nation agitator, on 10th October 2024, the British High Commission and Nigeria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs have clarified their positions on the matter. In a joint statement from the British High Commission and Nigeria's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, both parties emphasized that the petition was not officially endorsed by the UK government or its Parliamentary Petitions Committee. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a press statement on 15th October 2024, reiterating that the UK government typically refrains from engaging in petitions related to the internal affairs of sovereign nations like Nigeria. The press release also highlighted that such petitions had been rejected by the UK government in the past. During discussions with Nigeria's Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs on 14th October, the Br...
