Nigeria Detests Biafrans: IPOB Declares Ban on Independence Day Festivities.

Warri Province, Nigeria-Biafraland.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has announced a ban on the celebration of Nigeria’s Independence Day in Eastern region, condemning the event as a denial of Biafran identity and rights. In a statement released on Friday, IPOB’s Director of Media and Publicity, Emma Powerful, urged Biafrans both at home and in the diaspora to refrain from participating in the October 1 celebration, asserting that it symbolizes the marginalization and rejection of Ndigbo by the Nigerian government.

“Every sensible Biafra citizen must understand that Nigeria detests Biafrans, particularly Ndigbo,” the statement read. IPOB criticized the Nigerian state for its failure to provide basic necessities such as electricity, security, and good governance over the past 63 years. The group further emphasized that the perceived injustices have led them to reject any association with Nigeria.

The group reiterated its call for regional governors and political leaders to avoid any participation in the Independence Day celebrations, stating, “No Nigerian flag will be hoisted in the zone on October 1.” They warned that anyone caught celebrating Nigeria’s Independence Day in Biafraland would face serious consequences.

IPOB highlighted the historical grievances against the Igbo people, recalling the violence and destruction suffered since 1945, and lamented that Biafrans have only experienced pain and loss. “We do not want to continue in this British-imposed pain and suffering,” the statement declared.

Citizens are encouraged to stay home or go about their daily activities without participating in the Independence celebrations. The group stressed that Biafrans are free to conduct their business as long as it does not involve the celebration of Nigeria’s independence.

The movement underscored its commitment to the quest for Biafra’s independence, advocating for a referendum and diplomatic efforts to achieve their goal. “IPOB is a child of necessity for the birth of Biafra, and nothing will stop us from pursuing Biafra Independence,” they affirmed.

In conclusion, the Indigenous People of Biafra call for unity among Biafrans in rejecting the upcoming Independence Day festivities, reinforcing their stance against what they deem a celebration of oppression and denial of their rights.
