IPOB Rejects IDP Camp Rehabilitation Center in Imo State

Orlu Province, Nigeria-Biafraland.

The Directorate of State (DOS) of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has officially rejected the Federal Government's proposed Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Skills Acquisition Camp in Imo State. This initiative, located in Nzu Community, Ehime Mbano LGA, and other areas, is seen as part of a broader agenda by the Nigerian Government and Fulani interests to seize Biafran land and heritage.

In a strongly worded press release, IPOB condemned the project, stating it is a deceptive scheme to import displaced persons from Northern Nigeria into Biafraland, purportedly to offer skills training. The organization criticized the lack of genuine support for the unemployed youth in Imo State while expressing concerns that this camp could serve as a cover for integrating individuals linked to terrorism into the region.

IPOB characterized the initiative as a continuation of failed land-grabbing attempts, such as the RUGA program, aimed at settling Fulani herders in Eastern region. They specifically called out Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma for his role in facilitating this project, likening him to historical figures who perpetuated economic disadvantage for the region.

The statement further emphasized that there are no internally displaced persons among the Igbo, asserting that those displaced by violence have found refuge with family and friends, negating the need for such camps. IPOB firmly stated that they would resist any efforts to settle outsiders in their territory, framing the move as a threat to the safety and demographic integrity of the Igbo people.

The organization also questioned the Federal Government's commitment to infrastructural development in the South East, highlighting the absence of essential projects like railways and airports while directing resources towards establishing IDP camps.

In conclusion, IPOB urged the International Community to intervene and halt the project, insisting that the structure should either be converted for local youth or dismantled entirely. They reiterated their commitment to protecting the rights and safety of Biafrans, warning against any attempt to alter the region's demographic makeup under the guise of humanitarian aid.
