IPOB Exposes Secret Detention Centres Where Innocent Biafrans Are Held Incommunicado.

By Biafra Sun

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have raised alarm over the existence of secret detention centres across Nigeria, where they allege that innocent Biafrans and other citizens are being held incommunicado. In a press release issued by Comrade Emma Powerful, IPOB's Media and Publicity Secretary, the Directorate of State (DOS) of IPOB called on the international community, human rights organizations, and the general public to intervene in what it described as a gross violation of human rights by the Nigerian Security Forces.

The IPOB claims that detainees, primarily of Igbo ethnicity, are subjected to severe human rights abuses, including torture, illegal organ trafficking, and forced disappearances. The group noted that relatives of missing persons should investigate these secret detention facilities, which they believe hold their loved ones.

Among the detention centres listed by IPOB are military bases, police stations, and prisons scattered across Nigeria, including:

1. Wawa Military Base

2.Kanji Dam Detention Centre

3. DSS Headquarters, Abuja

4.Goodluck Jonathan’s Army Barracks, Ohafia, Abia State

5.Obinze Army Barracks, Owerri, Imo State

6. SARS Awkuzu, Ukpo, Anambra State

7. 82 Division Enugu Military Barracks

8. Port Harcourt Maximum Prison, Rivers State

...and many more across various regions.

IPOB alleged that the Nigerian government has been profiling and detaining Ndigbo individuals under false accusations of being IPOB or Eastern Security Network (ESN) members. The group claims that hundreds of people abducted during protests, such as the EndSARS movement, remain imprisoned without due process.

The statement further called on international human rights organizations, including Amnesty International and the United Nations Human Rights Council, to pressure the Nigerian government to release the detained civilians and investigate these allegations. IPOB asserts that the continued illegal detention of civilians without trial violates fundamental human rights and must be addressed immediately.

The press release concluded with a reminder of IPOB members who disappeared following a peaceful rally in support of former U.S. President Donald Trump in 2016, many of whom have not been accounted for.
