Ambazonian Leader Ayaba Cho Lucas Arrested in Norway for Terrorism Sponsorship in Cameroon
Biafra sun Int'l
The Biafra Sun can confirm that Ayaba Cho Lucas, the prominent Ambazonian activist and head of the Ambazonian Defense Forces (ADF), has been arrested. Ayaba Cho, a 52-year-old resident of Norway, was detained on September 24th, accused of sponsoring terrorism in Cameroon.
The ADF, under his leadership, has been at the forefront of the Anglophone crisis in Cameroon, recently setting taxis ablaze in Bamenda in a bid to demand a change in their color. His arrest is seen as a significant turn in the crisis that has ravaged Cameroon’s English-speaking regions since 2016.
On September 25th, Ayaba Cho Lucas appeared before the Oslo District Court. Norwegian authorities have also detained a German national of Cameroonian descent, both accused of inciting crimes against humanity. This marks Norway's first legal proceedings regarding such crimes.
The Anglophone crisis, triggered by a crackdown on peaceful protests, has since escalated into a violent conflict, claiming over 6,000 lives and displacing more than 760,000 people. Both separatist fighters and government forces have been accused of committing severe human rights violations.
Norwegian police are currently holding the suspects due to concerns over evidence tampering.
