IPOB Issues Stern Warning to Biafran Traditional Rulers
Ogoja Province, Nigeria-Biafraland.
In a recent press release dated August 15, 2024, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) issued a grave warning to traditional rulers and community leaders across Biafraland, accusing them of compromising the safety of their communities. According to the statement released by IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, certain traditional leaders have allegedly been collecting money from terrorists masquerading as herdsmen, allowing them to operate freely within their territories.
IPOB, led by its steadfast leader, Mazi Nnamdi Okwuchukwu Kanu, expressed deep concern over these allegations, which reportedly stemmed from information provided by Fulani herdsmen operating in the South East region. The group emphasized that such actions by the traditional rulers could have severe consequences, particularly from the Eastern Security Network (ESN), which has been at the forefront of combating the menace of herdsmen in Igboland.
The press release highlighted that IPOB-ESN operatives will not tolerate any traditional ruler or community leader who is found to be conniving with these so-called Fulani terrorists. The group accused some state governors of being involved in these underhanded deals, warning that IPOB-ESN operatives will take every necessary step to prevent their success.
"We are astonished and cannot fathom why our traditional leaders would sabotage efforts to ensure the safety of our land," the statement read. IPOB made it clear that any traditional ruler in Igboland who has engaged in deals to allocate land for Fulani settlements must immediately cease such activities. The group warned that those who continue to do so are endangering their own lives and the lives of their people.
IPOB further stated that it is not merely issuing a request but a stark warning: "We are informing you that your life is in danger because ESN will treat you as working for our enemies against the interest of our land and our people."
The group also hinted at the possibility of traditional rulers being forced into exile should they continue to undermine the safety of Biafraland. IPOB-ESN operatives have reportedly begun monitoring the actions of traditional leaders across the region, vowing to overcome any sabotage against their mission to restore Biafra.
IPOB concluded its message by reaffirming its commitment to securing the land and ensuring the safety of its people, regardless of the challenges posed by what it described as the "failed" leadership of both traditional rulers and South East politicians.
The situation remains tense as the people of Biafraland look to see how the traditional rulers will respond to this serious warning from IPOB.
