Binance Executive Who Escaped From Nigeria Custody Arrested in Kenya

The Kenya Police Service has arrested Nadeem Anjarwalla, a Binance executive who had escaped from Nigeria. International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) is moving to extradite him to Nigeria within the week, according to government sources speaking on condition of anonymity to PUNCH's correspondent on Sunday night.

Anjarwalla was arrested in Kenya, and he is expected to be extradited to Nigeria this week as confirmed by sources familiar with the case.

The Federal Government had traced Anjarwalla to Kenya after he escaped from lawful custody in Nigeria. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the International Criminal Police, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Kenyan Police Service are in talks to expedite his extradition.

Anjarwalla went into hiding immediately after landing in Kenya, but authorities have located him and are working with the Kenyan authorities to bring him back to Nigeria.

The EFCC Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, confirmed that the commission is working with INTERPOL, the United States’ Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and other governments to extradite Anjarwalla.

The charges against Binance Holdings Limited, Tigran Gambaryan, and Nadeem Anjarwalla include tax evasion, currency speculation, and money laundering amounting to $35,400,000. Gambaryan is currently in custody while efforts are underway to extradite Anjarwalla.
